Restoring the Circle gatherings raise awareness of the impact the Residential School system continues to have on communities throughout Canada

The RESTORING THE CIRCLE initiative aims to raise awareness of the Residential School system's impact on both indigenous and non indigenous communities. It fosters healing and forgiveness in an attempt to restore the relations between communities that have damaged by this system. Over 80,000 native people across Canada who experienced the residential school system remain out of an estimated 150,000 children who attended those church-run schools, according to the interim report of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee last February. These pictures shed some light on the various aspects of the fourth gathering that took place in 2012.
