Maestro Esteban Valdez working at his bench

When we arrived to visit Maestro Valdez it was to buy some of his ceramic art. He was renowned for using a very ancient method of working. After choosing the pieces I asked for permission to make some photos of him working - he graciously agreed. After I got my gear out of the car he proceeded to open up his studio and home to me, introducing me to his immediate family. I remember the face of a man who'd worked hard throughout a tough life yet remained humble before his earthen materials, devoted to his craft and his family.
